A cozy meeting place of Bohemia The Victorian House Brown's, located in Munich's lively Schwabing district, has been a meeting place for bohemians since its opening in November 2004. Furnished in traditional Victorian house style with old oil paintings, English antiques and comfortable seating, Browns again offers an alternative to the usual coffee shops. A selection of 80 loose leaf teas, a variety of homemade cakes, baked to original English recipes, coffee, hearty snacks (salads, toasted sandwiches, baked potatoes, homemade quiche) and many other delicacies give a distinctive character. Here you will find an interesting mix of guests consisting of students, artists, academics from the nearby university, residents and Schwabings Schikeria. Victorian House Brown's - a place to relax, meet, and find new energy for the day.
delicious cakes and friendly staff
I found the staff to be very rough in tone. The tea is good.
Coffee and cakes there are amazing!
I go there with my girlfriend from time to time and we have great conversations with the wonderful charisma of the café. The waitress is very friendly and also kept my headphones when I lost them! I can recommend this cafe to have a nice Sunday afternoon.
The pineapple cake with American cheese is delicious. The service is friendly, great experience!
If you want to drink good tea and eat excellent cakes in a relaxed atmosphere and great ambience in Munich, this is the place for you. But you have to be lucky to get a place. The quality of the food and drinks naturally makes the tea house known and popular.
I was pleased to find Irish breakfast tea here. Carrot cake had amazing frosting.
The cake is great, the quality of the goods is overall impeccable. The service is extremely friendly. The decor is a bit shabby, but you can also find it charming.
A beautiful and authentic little tea room that lets you relax and always delights the senses. Not only is the tea a good reason to come, the cakes are great too.
Simply the best cakes in Munich and the best variety of tees and coffee
The best shop, thanks to Rosa. Much more charm and cosiness than other VTH branches. Good tea. Comfortable armchair. We have been visiting for years!
Perfect!
Super fast service, lovely tea, milk jug included if you like it English. My quiche Lorraine was bacon salty and onion sweet and hot served with a simple leaf salad, the husband's salmon bagel was generous. Cakes looked amazing though we didn't have but watched them fly off the shelf in takeaways.
Delicious tea and very good pastries. Very friendly saleswoman
Amazing teas, cakes and service, with very friendly owner and staff
So beautiful English and the cake only ?? at its finest ???? the music to dream ?
Drinks and pastries are wonderful. But unfortunately we were put in the back when it came to the operation. While we were sitting down, a friend of the employees came, who was then brought forward. Of course, this took a little longer because there was a lot of gossip. Please treat all customers equally in the future.
Very cute tea room with delicious (and very large) slices of cake!
Very nice flair in the small restaurant .. there was excellent cake, e.g. Lavender Cake .. Fine tea selection and friendly service .. Absolutely worth a visit ..
Very nice place, with good tea.
This place is highly overrated. The idea behind the cafe is great, but unfortunately they have a difficult time delivering good service. The food and drink is heavily overpriced and due to the self service concept, the place is ridiculously overcrowded. Furthermore they don't accept reservations. I'm giving 2 stars simply because the interior is really beautiful. Wish they would rethink their concept!
Delicious cakes, large variety of tasty tea and an incredibly kind and cheerful owner. The lady here is a delight to meet every time and I always leave with a smile on my face :)
This is definitely going to be one of my go-to cafes in Munich ☺️ Nice comfy armchairs, a great selection of teas and the number of cakes on display actually makes you dizzy with pleasure! What really surprises / bothers me though is how expensive the scones are!! 5.50€ for one??!! Way too much even for Munich ?
Nice, somewhat out of date tea bar where you can make yourself comfortable for hours. With strong tea, tasty cakes and a good book or a beloved conversation partner, you forget the time here. Guys, I'm hungry! Food: sweet Ambience: solid Service: friendly Prices: high
It's so crowded that when you're done, a man comes up and says "if you don't want to order anything else you should leave" Interesting
That's the way it has to be. Splendid. Much better than the Victorian House branches. Here you can sit very comfortably.
When I lived in Munich, I visited Brown’s very often together with one of my good friends. That’s why I’m sure the lady who owns this place knows us. Yesterday my friend was waiting at a table who could accommodate 3 people while room was getting busier. The lady owner apparently couldn’t stand the risk of loosing the customers as she approached my friend and rudely said: “girl, you need to get up now”. It would have been okay if she asked her politely to change the table but that was just offensive. My friend decided to leave, so as the 3 other would-be customers who later told her “we didn’t like the way she treated you so we are leaving too”. I wish the owner learns how to show her customers some respect in the future.
Amazing place, really giving away that Victorian flare. Great choice of teas and deserts. The only downside to it is that it is really tiny and since it is a self service it seems extremely crowded. The lady that was serving us today was lovely and warm. Since I live in Munich, will definitely come more often.
Excellent service and great tea selection.
Incredibly lovingly designed shop! The owner is totally friendly, you will be well advised about the types of tea. In addition, the cakes are all very, very tasty!
Beautiful tea house with an excellent service in the world knows. Just fantastic! Each one must be wonderful for a tea lover! Full of points gladly always gladly
Very friendly. Unbelivable cakes!
Great selection of teas, and very good cakes too (just a bit too creamy for my personal taste)
Quite nice and pleasant place for a cup of tea oflr delicious cake! True tea lovers would surely appreciate it a lot ;)
I will never go there again. Everything sold out 15min after opening. Such a waste of time.
Great place to appreciate English confectionery and teas. I personally love their scones which is served with a very delicious butter and strawberry jam. Their pies, cakes and tarts are also delicious. They also have a variety of teas served in classic English tea cups. I have been to tea houses in UK and I can say what they offer is pretty genuine, although they do not need offer many of my favorites. The only problem is that the space is so limited that you always have to wait to find a table and rarely it is comfy so not suitable for long time sitting. They also get out of their best stuff pretty fast so it is better to visit there in the morning.
The lady working there is one of the nicest we ever met in Munich. The cakes are delicious and drinks are really good, adding to this the atmosphere which is so cosy! I can’t recommend anything better, thanks again for your smile which makes anything better!
Friendly inviting atmosphere. Great coffee and food. Highly recommend a quick stop, you won't be disappointed.
Nice place to go for scones and tea.
Be careful! The guy working there is crazy. We complained that the coffee was not that good as always (by the way the lady working there really does a very good coffee and ist very warm and hostly) and this guy was as a result way too unfriendly. We left tips on his table and made our service too by bringing the coffee cups back to him. He answered rudely: take your tips back! We didn’t want to take it back of course, and he threw it on our feet as we were leaving!!! Extremely rude!! So sad to run into these kind of people in the middle of Munich and in such a nice bar!!! Be careful, who knows what else he can do!!
Relatively small, but cosy Café. They are serving coffee as well ;). Ordered cappuccino, cheesecake and a lemon cake. The cappuccino was good, but nothing special. The cheesecake was very delicious. The thin lemon cake was delicious as well, but very sweet, compared to the cheesecake. Both were very tasty and good alongside the coffee. Definitely a place to go for the afternoon, if you want to have a good coffee-break or afternoon tea.
My favourite place in Munich. Awesome tea, awesome cake! Very cosy. Very nice staff.
Homesick for the UK, I thought, so try this tea bar. The Lemontart was delicious, but the undersized and overpriced scones - compared to the originals in the UK - resembled more crack-and-bake cakes. Actually, they are so high that you can not fold them after you have smeared them because they do not fit into the mouth in "full form" (so do not disappear with a bite). Also, the top should have a slight "shapeless" crust. Sorry, but not enough to the original British ran. I would have expected much more. The ambiance and furniture create a cozy atmosphere. A haven of peace in the lively Schwabing! The bartender, however, would have been able to show more humor and friendliness. Unwilling and unfriendly! Very unbritish. We will give the Tea Bar another chance. The next time we feel comfortable with the staff, the recession will be upgraded by one point.
It's a real taste, so come and go.
Delicious cakes and scones! Nice ambience too! Can be crowded especially on the weekend so one either has to wait for a place to sit or buy take away
This is one of the best tea bar and cakes for me in Munich. The services are lovely, easy going and the tea selection is just amazing. She is expert in what she is doing.
Please come to the real place. If you are coming to Munich, please. I have a few Victorian Houses, but I will not go anywhere else, but this is essential. Sandwiches, bagels, etc. There are quite a few snacks, lots of cakes and more kinds of tea. I did not enjoy the car so much, but it really tasted good! Walnut black tee is really recommended !! Squeeze sugar and it's game over. I bought it because I can buy tea leaves, and it is so cheap! So delicious tea tea leaves are 100g to 7 euros ... chan .. It was famous shop with tea! And look at the bagel .... As you can see from the picture, salmon and cream cheese are really generous. Duckji Dukji is a cream cheese soup and it is 욬 ㅋㅋㅋ ㅋㅋㅋ And above all, it's really delicious. It is not the end here It's a big cake. Especially the Mississippi mud cake? Creamy chocolate cake with real cream I was worried because I had a late summer. It was really good that I was not wearing more than I thought! Please enjoy this as a must. Really and really delicious ㅠ ㅠㅠ Cakes, pies are really kind, but they all seem delicious. I want to do everything .... The meringue lemon cake was also delicious and the ascone is really delicious! KFC biscuit smooth version? ㅋ ㅋㅋ It is a fantastic idea to eat both clotted cream and strawberry jam together. The owner has a cakes, cooks, and she does it all alone. Like the latter ones, please make it with your car. I was so excited to have a great affinity. If I go back to Munich, I will try all of the cakes.
Fantastic place!
A great tea and coffee house. There is wide variety of tea. The tea is good and also the coffee - fresh and full of crema. There are also good cakes and bakes and the atmosphere is cozy and intimate thanks to the lighting, music and furniture. The owner is welcoming, friendly, helpful and good in English. I highly recommend this place!
Nice quiet little place with many choices of tea and cake and beautiful music from 20s or 30s tea party. Warm and homey feeling, that kind of place that when you finished your tea you become a better person, a happier person. Tea come with big cup. Definitely will come back❤
